EDUCATIONAL SYSTEM IN SLOVENIA

Educational System in Slovenia

The Reformed School System
The Slovenian school system has seen a number of changes in recent years which are intended to ensure that as many people as possible use their right to education and achieve a higher educational level.
          Financial Resources for Education.

  •  The education system in Slovenia is almost fully financed from the state budget. A small share of the finance is also contributed by local authorities. Included are both state schools and accredited private schools.

Compulsory Basic Education

The nine-year basic education is divided into 3 three-year cycles (the first six years as primary education, the final 3 years as lower secondary education).
Elementary schools provide a compulsory and extended curriculum.
The compulsory curriculum must be provided by schools and studied by all pupils. It consists of compulsory subjects, electives and activity days (culture, science, sports and technology).
School must provide the optional elementary school curriculum, but pupils are free to decide whether they will participate. It includes educational assistance for children with special needs, remedial classes, additional classes, after-school care and other forms of care for pupils, interest activities and out-of-school classes.

Upper Secondary Education

          Upper secondary education includes vocational and technical programmes preparing students predominantly for labour, and general secondary programmes (called gimnazija) preparing students predominantly for further studies;
Programmes in secondary education vary in content, duration and goals.

Higher Education
Higher education institutions are universities, faculties, art academies and professional colleges.
In Slovenia the academic year begins in October and lasts until the end of September in the following year. It is divided into two semesters: the winter semester usually runs from October to January, and the summer semester from February to the middle of July. The organisation of studies is defined with a study programme.

SCHOOL EXIBITION - AQUAMOBILITY WATER POEMS AND FASCINATING PHOTOS

HARRY IN THE WATER

I was swimming in the water
When I met Harry Potter.
I was travelling to hide
Somewhere outside.
He spelled me to a frog
And I  felt like a hot dog.

I  escaped to Iran
But Harry teleported me to Piran.
Everybody smiled
Because  Henrik was dancing Gangnam Style.

And then out of the blue
Came the kangaroo with a tattoo
He wanted to find
Somebody his kind
But everybody was blind.

The Kangaroo was telling a fairy-tale
But a policeman took him to jail
Because  the fairy-tale was about the cocktail.
This was our song
We hope it's not too long
Now go, to learn the alphabet,
And don't forget this song
till the sunset. (Jan Urankar, Aljaž Božič, 9.b)

HIDDEN

We've got oceans, rivers, sea
There we feel free.
There are things we can't see
For some things, human eye
Is blind
But in your mind,
There is some humanity to find
Blue water is what matters
It is there in any weather. (Tina Tonin, Nika Pestotnik, 9.a)

WATER-ICE

Water is nice
It freezes into ice.
Begins in the pool
It's nice and cool.

It looks like a sky
Sparkling in your eye.
Even when it's night,
Everything is all right
When the weather is nice
Everybody skates on ice.

When summer comes
nothing is the same
ice is not there
anywhere.  (Teja Bajde, 9.b)

FROG

On the river there's a frog,
 reading a blue catalogue.
The frog takes a fork,
And gets to the sidewalk.

The frog has a superpower,
To take a hot shower.
To take a yellow canoe
And going to the crocodile interview.

Te crocodile jumps out in his style,
And takes a beautiful smile.
He thinks he's cool,
But he's only cool at school. (Klara Vrtačnik, Klavdija Hribar, 9.b in 9.a)

MOUSE STORY

One time there lived a mouse
She lived in a house
The house was next to the Nile
So the mouse smiled with style.

When she went to swim
She saw a penguin
Who caught a frog
And she brought a hot dog.

She came home,
And she was alone
Somebody rang oh, it was a king.

The mouse wanted to hide
She ran outside
She fell into the  Nile
And was eaten by the crocodile.

Boštjan Zajec, 9.b

LOVE

We've been sitting by the lake
So close that I can hear the beating
Of his heart
He made a mistake
He may not know it but I'm awake.

He used to be sweethearts
But now we agreed that we have
To be free
So we are apart
And we decided to make a fresh start.

Mojca Pavlič, 9.b
